James "Weasel" Weis, a pilot with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 369, and Lt. Col. Mario "Sugar Bear" Carazo, the future plans officer for 3rd MAW (FWD), were supporting ground troops in contact with enemy forces when they died.
