SOUTHWEST ASIA - Coalition airpower integrated with coalition ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations June 28, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

In Afghanistan, Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt IIs fired cannon rounds and rockets onto Anti-Afghan Forces positions in Sar Hawzeh. Furthermore, the A-10s dropped Guided Bomb Unit-12s and general purpose 500 pound bombs onto additional Anti-Afghan forces positions in the area. The Joint Terminal Attack Controller declared the mission a success.

Shows of force were performed by A-10s in Qarah Bagh and Now Zad in order to deter activities by Anti-Afghan Forces in the areas. The missions were reported as successful by the JTAC.

Air Force F-15E Strike Eagles dropped a GBU-31 and GBU-38s onto Anti-Afghan Forces fighting positions in the vicinity of Asadabad. The JTAC confirmed the mission as a success.

An F-15E conducted a show of force in the vicinity of Sangin in order to deter activities by Anti-Afghan Forces against Coalition Forces. The mission was declared a success by the JTAC.

In the vicinity of Bari Kowt, an F-15E performed a show of force over enemy positions. The JTAC reported the mission as a success.

In the vicinity of Sar Hawzen, an A-10 conducted a show of force in order to deter enemy activities against coalition forces. The mission was confirmed as a success by the JTAC.

In total, 38 close air support missions were flown as part of the ISAF and Afghan security forces, reconstruction activities and route patrols.

Twelve Air Force and Royal Air Force surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft flew missions as part of operations in Afghanistan.

In Iraq, an Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon performed a show of force over enemy positions in Al Amarah. The JTAC declared the mission a success.

A Navy F/A-18C Hornet conducted a show of force over enemy positions in the vicinity of Al Amarah. The mission was reported as successful by the JTAC.

In total, Coalition aircraft flew 57 close air support missions for Operation Iraqi Freedom. These missions integrated and synchronized with coalition ground forces, protected key infrastructure, provided over watch for reconstruction activities and helped to deter and disrupt terrorist activities.

Twenty-three Air Force and Navy surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft flew missions as part of operations in Iraq. Additionally, six Navy and Royal Air Force aircraft performed tactical reconnaissance.

U.S. Air Force C-130s and C-17s provided intra-theater heavy airlift, helping to sustain operations throughout Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa.

Approximately 134 airlift sorties were flown; 457 tons of cargo delivered, and 2,570 passengers were transported. This included approximately 53,890 pounds of troop re-supply air-dropped in Afghanistan.

Coalition C-130 crews from Australia, Canada, and Iraq flew as part of operations in Afghanistan or Iraq.

On June 27, U.S. Air Force, Royal Air Force, and Singaporean aerial refueling crews flew 58 sorties and off-loaded approximately 3.3 million pounds of fuel to 249 receiving aircraft.
