Task Force Baghdad PAO
BAGHDAD --While conducting operations in south Baghdad at 10 a.m. Oct. 4, elements of an Iraqi Public Order Brigade engaged in small-arms fire with a terrorist group numbering more than 40 fighters.
As the POB units engaged the Anti-Iraqi Forces with small-arms fire, Task Force Baghdad units also responded to the scene"first with a quick reaction force, then with aviation, military police and armor assets. Those forces decisively engaged and killed enemy forces.
By 11 a.m., additional POB units had arrived to engage in the firefight against the terrorists. They were joined by Iraqi Army Soldiers and Special Police Commandos.
Task Force Baghdad Soldiers helped medically evacuate wounded POB forces to military medical facilities.
Shortly before 1 p.m., POB units began searching houses in the area in search of the AIF.
More than three dozen terrorists were either killed, wounded, captured or detained in the engagement. Initial reports indicate only three POB Soldiers were killed.
