KABUL, Afghanistan - An International Security Assistance Force service member was killed and three were wounded after an improvised explosive device strike today in southern Afghanistan.
"Sadly, this incident has claimed the life of an ISAF soldier who was fighting for a safe and secure Afghanistan. I offer my condolences to the family of this brave service member," said Capt. Mark Durkin, ISAF spokesman. "ISAF will, however, continue its mission to support the people of Afghanistan."
It is ISAF policy not to release the nationality of any casualty prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
Next of kin have been notified.
