KABUL, Afghanistan — An International Security Assistance Force service member was killed by an improvised explosive device in eastern Afghanistan April 15.
"It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of this service member and we offer our condolences to their grieving family," said Capt. Mark Durkin, ISAF spokesman "This service member's valiant efforts will not be forgotten, and encourages us to continue our vital mission to bring security to the people of Afghanistan."
It is ISAF policy not to release the nationality of any casualty prior to the relevant national authority and the next of kin being notified.
