KABUL, Afghanistan — Afghan and coalition forces detained eight suspects early this morning during operations designed to destabilize a Taliban network in Paktika province.
In Sharan District, Paktika province, approximately 50 kilometers southeast of Ghazni, Afghan and coalition forces, with Afghan national police reinforcements, targeted a Taliban commander and his associates who are responsible for carrying out attacks against Afghan national security forces and coalition forces.
In a complex assault, the combined force entered multiple compounds to search for the militants known to be involved with attacks in the Paktia-Paktika-Khost region in eastern Afghanistan.
Approximately 60 adults and 50 children on the compounds followed the instructions of the Afghan forces, resulting in the detention of eight militants without incident.
