    KABUL, Afghanistan — Afghan national police, with support from coalition forces, captured a known Taliban commander during combat operations in Ghazni District, Ghazni province, May 23.

    The Afghan-led force conducted an early morning raid on a compound of a key Taliban commander known for weapons trafficking and attacks on Afghan and coalition forces.

    When the combined forces entered the compound, the Taliban commander and two other suspected militants were apprehended without incident.

    The capture of this Taliban commander will significantly disrupt the militant network in the districts surrounding Ghazni City.
    No shots were fired during the operation, and no ANP, coalition forces or civilian casualties were reported.
