KABUL, Afghanistan — Two International Security Assistance Force service members were killed in an improvised explosive device strike in southern Afghanistan yesterday.
"ISAF soldiers grieve once again for the loss of these two first-rate soldiers" said Brig. Gen. Eric Tremblay, ISAF spokesperson. "On behalf of all their brothers and sisters in arms, I wish to offer my deep sympathies to the families and friends of our fallen comrades."
"The insurgents are desperate and they are employing desperate tactics. We will continue to work hard to defeat the vicious and indiscriminate IED threat employed by the enemies of Afghanistan as we assist Afghans in their plight for a better future."
It is ISAF policy not to release the nationality of any casualty prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
Next of kin have been notified.
