KABUL, Afghanistan - An International Security Assistance Force service member was killed today as a result of an improvised explosive device detonation in southern Afghanistan.
"I wish to convey my condolences to the loved ones and comrades of this brave ISAF service member," said Brigadier-General Eric Tremblay, ISAF Spokesperson.
"His contribution to the fight against the enemies of Afghanistan was superb and we will honour his memory by continuing to defend the Afghan population from the intimidation and violence of the insurgents."
U.S. Navy Lt. Robert Carr, a U.S. spokesperson, confirmed that the deceased is a U.S. service member.
