KABUL, Afghanistan — Two International Security Assistance Force service members died today when their patrol struck an Improvised Explosive Device in southern Afghanistan.
"Our most sincere condolences go out to the families, friends and comrades of these two proud and committed ISAF service members," said Brig. Gen. Eric Tremblay, ISAF Spokesperson. "They deployed to Afghanistan because they believed in this important mission and wanted to make a difference for the population of this country. We will always remember them."
Navy Chief Petty Officer Brian Naranjo, a U.S. spokesperson, confirmed that the deceased are U.S. service members.
