"I extend my sincere condolences to the family members and friends of this courageous soldier," said Brigadier-General Eric Tremblay, ISAF spokesperson.
"The enemies of Afghanistan are trying to prevent ISAF, the Afghan national security forces and the international community from achieving a common objective: Secure the Afghan population to allow progress, development, governance and reconstruction to occur."
It is ISAF policy to not release the nationality of any casualties before the relevant national authority doing so.
