KABUL, Afghanistan - Media interested in operational details from Afghanistan should now contact the International Security Assistance Force Joint Command Media Operations staff, which will operate 24 hours a day from its new location at Kabul International Airport - North. This newly-established NATO command is responsible for overseeing the daily ISAF military operations and activities in Afghanistan.
The IJC will focus on strengthening the unity of command and unity of effort across the international forces from 43 nations in Afghanistan. They will do this by improving partnering with the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan along security, governance and development areas. When the IJC reaches full operational capability in the coming weeks, it will be responsible for planning future operations.
ISAF Headquarters Public Affairs will continue to answer media queries on strategy, policy and its engagement with international organizations in Afghanistan and the region. Media representatives should direct queries regarding operations and activities, embedding and accreditation requests to the IJC Public Affairs staff. Phone and e-mail contacts are listed below.
