    KABUL, Afghanistan — An Afghan-international security force detained a suspected militant while searching for a Taliban facilitator in the Qara Bargh district of Ghazni province last night. As a necessary part of the search, Afghan members of the joint team entered a mosque that was a part of the compound.

    In another operation, an Afghan-international security force detained suspected militants while searching for a Taliban weapons facilitator in a series of buildings in the Chak-e-Wardak district of Wardak province last night.

    In a separate operation, an Afghan-international security force detained a suspected militant while searching for a Taliban commander in the village of Kashmirak, in the Dey Chopan district of Zabul province last night.

    No shots were fired and no Afghan civilians were harmed during any of these operations.

    In other operations, a joint ANSF-ISAF patrol discovered IED making materials and illegal narcotics while searching a series of compounds in Nawah-ye-Barakzai district of Helmand province yesterday. The find netted numerous IED making materials to include pressure plates, blasting caps, ball bearings, small arms ammunition and a chemistry set. The patrol also discovered one kilogram of marijuana and opium paraphernalia. Six men were detained.

    ISAF Forces discovered a weapons cache consisting of seven mines and three IED's in Kunduz yesterday.

    ANSF and ISAF forces conducted a raid on three compounds of a senior IED facilitator and Taliban commander near the village of Gavrgay in Helmand province on Friday. Afghan forces entered the first compound and questioned five men.

    While Afghan forces were clearing the first compound, three insurgents were positively identified outside of the compound. Afghan forces engaged the group of insurgents, resulting in one killed and two detained.

    The joint force protected the nine women and 18 children in the compounds.
