KABUL, Afghanistan - An Afghan-international security force searched a compound in the village of Qal-eh-ye-Bara, in the Qarah Bagh District of Ghazni province. During the operation the joint force responded to an imminent threat and killed insurgents and captured another.
In Kandahar today, a joint security force stopped a vehicle near Maiwand village in the Maiwand District. While searching the vehicle and a nearby compound, the Afghan-international security force found three men, including one with fragmentation wounds he was unable to explain, who were attempting to bury a handheld radio. The three men were detained and medical care was provided to the one with injuries.
In Khowst last night, an Afghan-international security force searched a compound in the village of Goldar, in the Sabari District and captured a Haqqani commander, responsible for buying weapons, ammunition and directing attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. The joint team also captured other militants.
In Kunduz last night a joint security force searched a compound outside the village of Basuz, in the Chahar Darah District and detained an Uzbek foreign fighter facilitator with close ties to the Taliban. The security force also detained other suspected militants.
In other operations, ANP and ISAF forces searched two compounds and detained five insurgents along with IED materials in the Koh-e-Safi District of Parwan province yesterday. The joint force seized 30 kilos (66 pounds) of ammonium nitrate, a Russian-made rocket, three fragmentation grenades, and grenade fuses.
No innocent Afghan civilians were harmed during any of these operations.
