KABUL, Afghanistan - An ANSF-ISAF patrol arrested a suspected IED maker after discovering an IED cache in a compound in Nad Ali district, Helmand province, Feb. 23, as part of Operation Moshtarak.

The cache consisted of 50 kilograms of home-made explosive, 100 kg of ammonium nitrate, an 82mm mortar fuse, three ammunition-filled vests, and various IED components to include anti-tamper switches.

The IED maker was found with blasting caps on his person. The explosives were destroyed on site.

"Our well-trained officers are working day and night to protect all Afghans," said General Azimi, MOD spokesman. "We will continue to work with our ISAF partners to find explosive material that threaten the lives of the innocent."
