Marine athletes and support staff with the All-Marine Warrior Games Team hiked to the summit of Mount Cutler in Colorado Springs, Colo., May 1.

The hike was an opportunity for the athletes, coaches and support staff to take a break from their busy training schedule in preparation for the inaugural games and enjoy the beauty of the local area.

The hikers were rewarded with a panoramic view of the town below, the well-known mountain Pike's Peak and a waterfall below.

"There's so much beauty in this area, and I knew the Marines who came would enjoy it, and they definitely did," said Maj. Susan Stark, Warrior Games head coach and coordinator.

The Warrior Games are offering recovering, wounded military personnel from each service an opportunity to compete against each other in a variety of Olympic-style events. The competition is scheduled to take place May 10-14 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center here.

In anticipation of the games, The Marine Corps is holding a two-week training camp for its approximately 50 athletes.
