KABUL, Afghanistan – The attack by insurgents in Kunduz was an attempt to intimidate Afghans and members of the international community trying to improve the lives of all Afghans.
“This attack shows the insurgents’ desire to prevent progress and draws attention to their true goal of serving themselves rather than the people of Afghanistan,” said Navy Capt. Jane Campbell, ISAF Joint Command spokesperson. “We remain committed to serving alongside our Afghan partners to improve security and development for all Afghans.”
Afghan National Security Force members responded to the scene of the attack to control the site and provide assistance to the victims. ISAF troops are providing assistance to the ANSF and caring for injured civilians at a nearby ISAF base. There are no reports of injuries to ISAF forces.
