KABUL, Afghanistan - International Security Assistance Forces destroyed more than 7,700 kilograms of illegal drugs seized in operations in the previous weeks throughout Helmand province.
In total, more than $134 million in opium, hashish, morphine and heroin were burned in accordance with Afghan legal procedures.
Afghan national security forces along with Marines from 4th and 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance battalions seized the illicit narcotics from drug traffickers located in southern Afghanistan.
These drugs, combined with another large seizure earlier this week, brought the total amount of illicit narcotics destroyed in Helmand province in the past five days to more than 13,000 kilograms.
