Marines from the recently organized Security Cooperation Marine Air-Ground Task Force, which is currently deployed to the U.S. Southern Command area of focus, arrived in Belize, Nov. 23. While there, they will work as part of Southern Partnership Station-Amphib 2009. Participating in the Theater Security Cooperation event are Marines and Sailors from Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines; 8th Communication Battalion; engineers from 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group; and a fly-in Dental Echelon from Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Sailors aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp have two new lay leaders aboard to assist with guiding them in their personal faiths. Wasp Training Officer Lt. Bradley Lewis has assumed the responsibility as the Jewish faith lay leader, and Chief Yeoman (SW/AW) Leon Whaley has assumed the responsibility as the non-denominational Christian lay leader.

Roughly 50 Marines and Sailors in Belize as part of the Security Cooperation Marine Air-Ground Task Force celebrated Thanksgiving this year at the U.S. Embassy in Belmopan, Belize. The event, which was hosted at the home of the U.S. Ambassador to Belize, featured a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings, as well as recreational activities like ping-pong, basketball and tennis.
