Troops Find Four-day Pass Effective

A Different Kind of Mission

Fort Knox's 3rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) has deployed before, but never like this. The 3rd ESC completed a 15-month deployment to Iraq in August 2009. Now, the unit is in Haiti. The command's Soldiers didn't expect to be deployed again so soon, but Haiti's, Jan. 12, earthquake changed all that.

Colombia and U.S. Army South Work to Treat More Than 5,100 Patients

Much needed specialized and general medical treatment was provided to the people of Colombia during a Medical Training and Readiness Exercise from Jan. 25 to Feb. 3. U.S. Army South First Responders Return From Haiti

Hours after the earthquake struck Haiti, members of U.S. Army South's Humanitarian Assistance Survey team were notified that they would be departing for Port-au-Prince the next day. The team, made up of Army South engineers, departed San Antonio, Jan 13, to work with governmental and non-governmental organizations to assess the damage in Haiti and to build the Deployable Joint Command and Control Center, which would later be the headquarters for Joint Task Force-Haiti.
