Rct. John Hall, an 18-year-old native of Moon Township, Pa., is currently training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., in hopes of earning the title of United States Marine. Hall is training with Platoon 3092, Kilo Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, and is scheduled to graduate Nov. 22, 2013. “I joined the Marine Corps because I was in the first grade when 9/11 happened, and it really upset me, and I wanted to fight for my country. I joined the Marine Corps because it was the best fighting force I could think of,” said Hall, who graduated from Moon High School in 2013. Approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training. Parris Island is home to entry-level enlisted training for 50 percent of males and 100 percent for females in the Marine Corps. (Photo by Cpl. Caitlin Brink)
