Sgt. Victor Pamplona (left), a Maui, Hawaii, native; Sgt. Juan Montelongo, a Pocatello, Idaho, native; and Spc. Chad Mitschelen, also a Pocatello native, all Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle crewmen with Golf Company, 3rd Battalion, 116th Cavalry Regiment, 77th Sustainment Brigade, 310th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, stand together at Joint Base Balad, Iraq. Pamplona, Montelongo and Mitschelen all survived a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device ambush and said their training and the durability of their MRAP saved their lives.
