Retired Maj. Gen. Michael "Lancer" Sullivan, former commanding general of the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, shares his Marine Corps experiences with senior enlisted and officers at The Pit aboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Sept. 30. Sullivan enlisted in the Marine Corps but then became an officer after becoming dissatisfied as a mechanic. He was commissioned a pilot in 1956 and retired in 1992, flying 8700 hours including two combat tours in Vietnam. He is proud of the fact that he has just as many landings as he does take-offs.
