WASHINGTON - The Army’s Electronic Warfare Planning and Management Tool (EWPMT), which will have 22 separate and distinct functions and is a piece of the Army’s long-term plans for the Integrated Electronic Warfare System (IEWS), has entered the Engineering and Manufacturing Development Phase in the Life Cycle Management System.
“The EWPMT will be an unprecedented software system for electronic warfare operations within the Army,” said Col. Jim Ekvall, Chief of the Army EW division at the Pentagon. “This software tool will allow Soldiers to coordinate and synchronize EW operations across the electromagnetic battlefield and pave the way for the future of war fighting.”
EWPMT will be developed in six phases. During the third quarter of FY15 the first set of the software tools will be tested in select units. By the end of FY19 EWPMT will be fully operational across the Army.
“Senior leaders across the Army, Defense Department and Congress should know how important the continual funding for the EWPMT software tool will be for our Soldiers,” said Ekvall. “IEWS is the future of EW within the Army; EWPMT will allow the Soldiers to have long-term, effective solutions to managing battlefield scenarios.”
