    MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CENTER TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. - 7th Marine Regiment is scheduled to hold a Change of Command ceremony Thursday at Lance Cpl. Torrey L. Grey Field. Col. Austin Renforth, commanding officer, 7th Marines, will relinquish command of the regiment to Col. Jay Bargeron. The guest speaker for this event will be Lt. Gen. John A. Toolan, commanding general, I Marine Expeditionary Force.

    Bargeron most recently served as the ground colonel’s monitor at Headquarters Marine Corps, Manpower and Reserve Affairs, and Renforth will now serve as the director of Marine Corps Command and Staff College.
    In command of over 3,700 Marines and sailors, 7th Marine Regiment is one of three infantry regimental headquarters assigned to 1st Marine Division, the ground combat element of 1st Marine Expeditionary Force. The regiment fought in many famous battles such as Guadalcanal, Okinawa, Inchon, Chosin Reservoir and the Tet Offensive. As Regimental Combat Team 7, they deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, returning from their most recent deployment as the ground combat element of Regional Command (Southwest) in August 2013.
