MANAMA, Bahrain - An U.S. Air Force C130J Super Hercules from the 737th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron in Southwest Asia arrived at Sakhir Airbase Manama, Bahrain, to participate in the 2014 Bahrain International Air Show, Jan. 14, 2014.
“We’re very happy to be here,” said Capt. Brendon Duffy, 737th EAS C130J pilot and aircraft commander.
The C130J and crew are deployed from the 143rd Airlift Wing, Rhode Island Air National Guard. The aircrew will be greeting BIAS guest at their aircraft to answer questions about the technology and capabilities.
“I have never done an international air show, so this is going to be different; it’s going to be good,” Master Sgt. Chad Gurnun, 737th EAS loadmaster said.
The BIAS is scheduled to begin 16 Jan. and continue through 18 Jan. It is anticipated this year’s BIAS will attract up to 1,000 exhibitors from nearly 50 countries and more than 55,000 visitors. The U.S. will support several aviation static displays. Approximately 150 U.S. military personnel are expected to attend.
The aircraft the U.S. is showcasing through static displays is the C-130J Hercules, F-15E Strike Eagle, F-18E/F Hornet, MV-22 Osprey, and UH-1Y Huey Venom, AH-1Z Viper and MH-53E Sea Dragon helicopters. The U.S. Air Force will also have a B-1B Lancer and F-22 Raptor flyby.
