FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a soldier who died Feb. 5 from an apparent gunshot wound in Killeen, Texas.
Staff Sgt. Mahtehwho B. King, 44, whose home of record is listed as Bronx, N.Y., entered active duty service in October 1995 as an infantryman. He was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, since August 2012.
King deployed in support of Desert Storm from December 1991 - March 1992, Operation Joint Endeavor from September 2001 - March 2002, and Operational Enduring Freedom from July 2003 - December 2003 and from March 2006 - October 2006.
King's awards and decorations include three Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, four Army Good Conduct Medals, two National Defense Service Medals, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, two Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbons, Army Service Ribbon, Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, NATO Medal, and Combat Infantry Badge.
