JOINT BASE LEWIS MCCHORD, Wash. – Two of the Army’s top officials met with key leaders at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., Nov. 28 to talk about ways to help maintain readiness.
Vice Chief of Staff of the Army, Gen. Daniel Allyn and Sgt. Maj. of the Army Daniel Dailey visited JBLM to discuss the Ready and Resiliency Campaign, also known as R2C. The R2C integrates the efforts of JBLM leaders, government organizations and community partners to seek innovative solutions to readiness challenges, such as physical and mental health.
During an R2C update brief, Allyn asked what actions were being implemented to contribute to mission success. He also asked for suggestions of what leaders would like to see from him and Dailey to make a difference.
“What are we not doing that we ought to be doing to make a difference?” Allyn asked.
The update brief worked as an informative and collaborative meeting with Allyn, Dailey, JBLM leadership and Army program representatives. The goal of the brief for Allyn and Dailey was to determine what programs within the campaign work and what needs to be improved.
Dailey stressed the importance of brainstorming and putting forward ideas to improve the quality of life for Soldiers.
“We really rely on you to tell us things we need to sustain and the things we need to get rid of,” Dailey said to the attendees during the update brief.
The R2C works with a number of Army programs like the Hope Initiative, Army Wellness Centers and more. Spiritual, family, physical, and psychological issues are some of the categories programs under the R2C focus on.
Allyn and Dailey said Soldiers’ ability to deploy and their job satisfaction will increase by effectively promoting and providing the resources the Army has to offer. Allyn, Dailey, JBLM leaders and staff said they plan to continue the conversation and keep identifying ways to improve the R2C to better Soldiers well-being.
