Every day in the news, we hear about a new cyber attack or data breach. Today’s cyber threats are becoming more sophisticated and causing much more damage to individuals, institutions, and critical infrastructure. Our adversaries are stepping up their game in the cyber world, constantly trying to compromise our networks.
Our military systems and data are far too important to leave vulnerable to such an attack. And that’s why we’re upgrading all computer systems in the theater to Windows 10—the most advanced and secure operating system available for our networks. Windows 10 uses powerful cybersecurity technology—integrated into the core of the operating system—to provide stronger authentication and mitigate our most common vulnerabilities.
In addition to the security benefits, Windows 10 also streamlines our network management and offers new IT capabilities for users.
Standardizing the operating system across the Army allows us to apply economies of scale in procurement, operation, and maintenance of our IT resources. For everyday users, the Windows 10 also offers the most up-to-date versions of the powerful office tools we use every day to accomplish the mission.
Team Signal has been piloting the new system, and will be updating all of the machines in the theater over the coming months. You can follow our implementation progress and learn how to prepare for the migration by visiting www.119.army.mil.
We depend on information technology for every aspect of our mission—from the simple things like sending E-mail to the operation of major weapons systems. And just like a major weapons system, we must protect our IT networks and systems. Moving to Windows 10 strengthens our network to provide that security. Thanks for helping us make a smooth transition.
