FORT SILL, Oklahoma (March 30, 2023) — Fort Sill hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony March 30 for the new playgroup and Exceptional Family Member Program sensory room. The building is located at 2869 Craig Road and is open to children ages five and under and their parents. The playgroup provides a social outlet to connect military families and help parents learn from each other's experiences. At the same time, children are able to release pent-up energy and learn important socializing skills with their peers.
Another perk of the playgroup is that professionals are on hand to monitor play and respond to parent queries about their child's growth and development. One or more New Parent Support Home Visitors are at playgroup every Thursday morning during the operating hours of 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
One section of the building is dedicated to regular play time, while the other is reserved for nursing mothers, classroom use, and Exceptional Family Members Program (EFMP) playtime.
Both sides of the building are available and encouraged for use by military families. The EFMP wing features a sensory room with interactive toys that light up, make noise, or vibrate. The EFMP side will have a unique connections group for networking, education, and, most importantly, children's playtime.
For more information on the New Parent Support Playgroup, or EFMP Playgroup call 580-442-4916 or talk to Fort Sill Army Community Service located at Building 4700.
