KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany – U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz welcomed its new senior enlisted leader during an assumption of responsibilities held at the Armstrong’s Club on Vogelweh, Oct. 19.

Command Sgt. Maj. Raymond Wrensch assumed his duties by receiving the command's colors from Col. Reid Furman, USAG Rheinland-Pfalz commander. The colors are the command sergeant major’s symbol of authority, representing his responsibility to the organization.

“It is my privilege to welcome our incoming senior enlisted leader, Command Sgt. Maj. Raymond Wrensch, and his family,” said Furman in his welcoming remarks. “He brings a wealth of U.S. Army experience making him the best candidate for this position – a challenging one – that will prove to be highly rewarding on both a professional and personal level.”

Wrensch will serve as the commander's "right arm" and assist Furman daily in supporting the garrison mission. As command sergeant major of USAG Rheinland-Pfalz, Wrensch will provide support for an organization that extends to 31 sites across Germany, Romania, and Bulgaria.

“Our garrison’s presence enables multilateral alliances that promote global stability,” said Furman. “Leading an organization with the size and complexity of USAG Rheinland-Pfalz requires a team of dedicated professionals.

“Command Sgt. Maj. Wrensch, you are joining a great and diverse team, a group of passionate, skilled individuals who perform with excellence under pressure, and will always support you,” Furman added.

Wrensch previously served as the command sergeant major for 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, in Vicenza, Italy. Over his military career, he deployed four times to Iraq as well as five times to Afghanistan.

His civilian education includes a Bachelor of Arts in organizational management and master’s degree in leadership studies.

“I look forward to serving as the new USAG Rheinland-Pfalz’s command sergeant major, and to leading small wins to achieve big results,” said Wrensch.

Wrensch expressed his commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our Soldiers and their families, while also extending a warm welcome to newcomers who may be experiencing their first time away from home.

"We are the Army’s home; Be all you can be,” added Wrensch.

U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz serves, supports, and secures the total force community enabling power projection for the European Theater.
