KABUL - Two Afghan children were killed and one was injured when insurgents fired at coalition forces in Logar province in Baraki Barak district with small arms and rocket propelled grenades Tuesday.

The wounded child was evacuated to a nearby hospital for medical care.

According to International Security Assistance Force records, nine children have been killed and another eight have been wounded since Sunday as a result of insurgent attacks all across Afghanistan.

"Although Mullah Omar published his version of 'code of conduct' to insurgents to avoid injuring or killing innocent civilians, they continue to end lives of children in Afghanistan," said Col. Rafael Torres, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command Combined Joint Operations Center director. "It is obvious that the Taliban leader is losing control of his forces as they continue operations that violate their leader's direction."
