    Security force kills 9 insurgents

    KABUL, Afghanistan - Afghan and coalition forces killed nine insurgents during operations in Chak-e Wardak province, Aug. 11.

    While conducting operations, the forces came under effective enemy fire from multiple positions, including a vehicle. Insurgents used small arms and rocket-propelled grenades in the attack.

    During the fire fight, two U.S. Air Force F-16s provided close air support with 20mm cannon fire.
    No civilians were injured during the operation.
