KABUL, Afghanistan - ISAF service members recently delivered supplies such as flour, cooking oil and tea to more than 100 families in the Now Zad district of Helmand province for the holy month of Ramazan.
The supplies were distributed to the large number of residents who have returned to the area since security conditions have improved.
The village mullah partnered with Afghan government leaders to hand out the items to Afghan families at the district government center.
"The distributions demonstrate that the International Security Assistance Force is sincere in its respect for Islam and commitment to the people of Afghanistan," said Lt. Col. Dom D. Ford, Regional Command Southwest governance future operations planner. "We want to reiterate to the people of Afghanistan that we are here to protect them and assist GIRoA in providing better aid."
