KABUL - The bodies of two people who were kidnapped Sunday were turned over to the Afghan National Police Thursday in the Azrah District of Logar province.

The bodies were reportedly those of the district chief of police and an official with the Afghan National Directorate of Security, according to reports.

"Insurgents are attacking and killing the very members of their community who are trying to help Afghanistan become stable," said U.S. Army Col. Rafael Torres, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command Combined Joint Operations Center director. "Atrocities like this demonstrate that the insurgents do not care about the future of the Afghan people. The only thing they are concerned about is promoting their violent agenda and murderous ideas."
