KABUL, Afghanistan - The International Security Assistance Force confirmed the capture of two Taliban improvised explosive device facilitators.
ISAF announced the capture of a Taliban commander, who advises the Paktika Ambush Network, and a facilitator who traffics explosives, ammunition and weapons to insurgent fighters in the area, in a release, Aug.16. The Taliban leaders were among several suspected insurgents detained during the course of the operation.
During the operation leading to his capture, Aug. 15, the security force targeted a series of tents in remote Mota Khan district after intelligence indicated insurgent activity. Afghan forces called for all occupants to exit the tents peacefully and then secured the area. After questioning the residents, the security force detained the commander and facilitators for further questioning. The assault force found multiple automatic weapons with ammunition and magazines at the scene.
The assault force did not fire their weapons and they protected the women and children throughout the search.
