    AUP, USSF increase security in Paktiya province

    PAKTIYA, Afghanistan – Afghan Uniformed Police, assisted by U.S. Special Forces, discovered and reduced three improvised explosive devices in the vicinity of Lwarre village, Paktiya province Aug. 23.

    The Afghan-led patrol was enroute to Rabat village to assess road conditions after reported flooding when officers in the lead vehicle spotted a suspicious wire on the road shoulder. After reducing the initial IED, the patrol proceeded with caution and discovered the additional IED sites.

    “The AUP was a vital asset during this patrol,” said Lt. Col. Donald Franklin, the Special Operations Task Force – East commander. “They successfully located and reduced the explosives, increasing security for the people of Paktiya province.”
