Haqqani facilitator captured in Khost

KABUL - Afghan and coalition security forces captured a Haqqani network facilitator and two additional insurgents during their continued pursuit of Haqqani Network leadership in Khost province Thursday.

The security force targeted the Haqqani facilitator, responsible for the transportation of weapons and fighters, and conducting suicide bomber attacks, at a compound in Matun District.

Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the compounds peacefully, and then secured the area. After questioning all of the residents at the scene, the security force detained the insurgents. They also found multiple automatic weapons with ammunition, magazines and improvised explosive device making material at the scene.

The security force did not fire their weapons and they protected the women and children for the duration of the search.
