KABUL - An Afghan-led force detained several insurgents in Kandahar province Saturday while in pursuit of a Taliban facilitator involved in the acquisition of military materials.

The commander is also responsible for coordinating improvised explosive device attacks.

Afghan and coalition forces targeted a compound outside Deh Savzi in Arghandab District to search for the facilitator. Afghan and coalition forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the compound peacefully and then secured the areas.

The security force detained the insurgents after interviewing the residents on scene. The security force also found an IED initiator at the scene.

The security force protected the women and children for the duration of the search.
