KABUL- An Afghan and coalition security force detained several insurgents in Khost province Thursday, while in pursuit of a Haqqani Network sub-commander responsible for coordinating improvised explosive device attacks which often harm innocent civilians.

Intelligence tips led the security force to a compound in the village of Shinkay in Khost District.

Afghan forces used a loudspeaker calling for all occupants to exit the buildings and then cleared the compounds. After questioning the residents, the security force detained
    the insurgents.

The assault force did not fire their weapons on this operation and they protected the women and children for the duration of the search.
