KABUL, Afghanistan - Afghan National Civil Order Police with the 2nd Battalion, 1st ANCOP Brigade, partnered with soldiers from Special Operations Task Force - South, to find three improvised explosive devices Wednesday, Sept. 1, in the Panjwa'I district, Kandahar province.
"This was the second IED emplacement targeting ANCOP forces in the past two days," said the SOTF-S team leader, whose unit is partnered with 2nd Bn.
The ANCOP notified the team leader where the IEDs were located, and coalition forces successfully removed each IED.
"The ANCOP did exactly what they were supposed to do in this situation," the team leader said. "They reported the IEDs up their chain of command and maintained observation on the suspected devices."
This comes as Afghan National Police found an IED in the Arghandab district of Kandahar province the day prior.
The ANP were en route to their checkpoint when they identified a suspicious item on the north side of the road.
"The ANP identified the IED, disconnected the device and transported it to coalition forces," said the special forces team leader with SOTF-S, to whom the ANP brought the IED.
