KABUL – The International Security Assistance Force confirmed the capture of a Taliban improvised explosive device facilitator operating in Yosuf Khel district.
The facilitator provided IED's and technical advice to area insurgents. He was captured during an Afghan and coalition force operation in Paktika province Saturday.
Intelligence tips led the security force to a compound west of the village of Baghar Garanday in Yosuf Khel district to search for the IED operative. Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the buildings peacefully and then the combined security force cleared and secured the compound.
After questioning the residents at the scene, the security force detained the facilitator and several of his associates. The security force also found multiple weapons at the scene.
The security force did not fire their weapons and they protected the women and children for the duration of the search.
