KABUL, Afghanistan – An Afghan and coalition security force detained several suspected insurgents in Helmand province Monday while in pursuit of a Taliban improvised explosive device and homemade explosive cell leader.

Intelligence tips led the security force to a compound in remote Lashkar Gah district to search for the cell leader. Afghan forces called for all occupants to exit the buildings peacefully and then the combined force cleared the compound.

After the area was secure, the security force questioned the residents at the scene and detained the suspected insurgents.

The assault force did not fire their weapons and they protected the women and children throughout the search.
