KABUL, Afghanistan - Afghan and coalition forces detained several known insurgents during an operation in Khost province, eastern Afghanistan, today.
The insurgents were known facilitators of improvised explosive devices in Khost and were captured in a house after the joint force received a tip.
"We are determined to seek out and capture anyone who manufactures, facilitates, or employs IEDs to injure and kill Afghan civilians," said U.S. Army Maj. Patrick Seiber, Combined Joint Task Force - 101 and Regional Command - East spokesperson. "By virtue of these offensive operations, we have seen a distinct decrease in the amount of IEDs being used against citizens of eastern Afghanistan."
Afghan and coalition forces took great care to ensure the safety of Afghan civilians during this operation.
