KABUL, Afghanistan - Multiple intelligence reports and tips from local citizens led to the detainment of a wanted Taliban commander by Afghan and coalition security forces in Kabul Sept. 22.
The target was a Taliban commander and improvised explosive device attack planner who operates in and around the Kabul area. He is responsible for planning and coordination of numerous attacks on Afghan and coalition forces.
The target and several other men surrendered peacefully to the Afghan and coalition security forces. Afghan authorities took control of the detainees for further questioning and processing.
