KABUL, Afghanistan - A suicide bomber attack killed one civilian and wounded approximately 15 more in northern Afghanistan today, according to initial reports.

The explosion occurred near an International Assistance Force convoy, disabling one vehicle, but heavily damaging a civilian bus traveling behind the convoy in Balkh district, Balkh province.

ISAF service members assisted in treating the injured civilians and analyzed the explosive device used in the attack.

"Our thoughts are with the families of those affected and we hope for a quick recovery for those injured in this senseless attack," said U.S. Army Col. Rafael Torres, ISAF Joint Command Combined Joint Operations Center director "Despite their guidance to avoid harming civilians, the Taliban continue to completely disregard innocent civilian lives with their indiscriminate tactics. Their egregious acts go against religious and normal codes of conduct."
