KABUL, Afghanistan – The International Security Assistance force confirmed the capture of a Taliban leader in Ghazni Saturday who regularly endangered the local Afghan populace by conducting improvised explosive device and indirect fire attacks. He was also involved in a recent IED strike against two vehicles.
Based on intelligence tips, the security force targeted a compound in the village of Lowy Shar in Andar district to search for the targeted individual. Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the targeted compound peacefully and then the joint security force cleared and secured the compound.
After initial questioning of the residents at the scene, the security force detained the targeted individual and two of his associates.
The security force did not fire their weapons and they protected the women and children for the duration of the search.
