KABUL, Afghanistan - More than 200 Afghan soldiers from various Afghan Security Force elements in Kandahar joined forces with soldiers of Special Operations Task Force - South to clear portions of the Arghandab River Valley Friday.
The operation netted 54 improvised explosive devices which were destroyed in place. The combined force also found two compounds rigged with homemade explosives, which were destroyed.
"We will continue to find and destroy IEDs which kill and harm innocent civilians," said U.S. Army Col. Rafael Torres, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command Combined Joint Operations Center director.
