KABUL, Afghanistan - A vehicle-borne improvised explosive device exploded near an International Security Assistance Force mounted patrol in eastern Afghanistan, resulting in one Afghan child killed and two wounded, Sunday.
The wounded children were evacuated to an ISAF medical facility.
The vehicle-borne IED attack, which occurred in Manduzai District, Khost province, resulted in one ISAF vehicle lightly damaged.
"The killing and wounding of innocent children is reprehensible," said U.S. Army Col. Rafael Torres, ISAF Joint Command Combined Joint Operations Center director. "Our thoughts and concerns are with the families of the dead and wounded children. We'll work with our Afghan partners to find those responsible for planning this attack and bring them to justice."
