KABUL, Afghanistan – Coalition forces conducted a precision airstrike in Kunduz province Monday targeting a Taliban senior leader in the Gor Tappa area of Kunduz.
The targeted individual is responsible for conducting attacks against Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces operating in the province.
Based on intelligence sources, coalition forces tracked multiple insurgents to a remote area of Kunduz district. After verifying insurgent activity and careful planning to ensure no civilians were present, coalition aircraft conducted the precision air strike, killing two insurgents.
The International Security Assistance Force is still gathering information to confirm the results of the strike. ISAF will provide updates as they become available.
